SELECTED ITEMS FROM
THE TEXAS WATER SAFETY ACT
IT IS UNLAWFUL TO:
Operate a boat within an area designated as a “no wake” area except at headway speed without creating a swell or wake. “Headway speed” is defined as the slowest possible speed a particular vessel can travel and still maintain steerage.
Operate any motorboat of vessel at a rate of speed greater than is reasonable and prudent or greater than will permit the operator to bring such boat to a stop within the assured clear safety distance ahead.
Moor or attach any boat to buoy, beacon, light marker, stake, flag, or other aid to safe operation placed on the public waters of this State by proper authorities, or to move, remove, displace, tamper with, damage or destroy the same.
Anchor any boat in the traveled portion of any channel so as to prevent, impede, or interfere with safe passage of any boat.
Operate a boat within an area designated as bathing, fishing, swimming or otherwise restricted areas.
Operate any watercraft, vessel, one or more skis, an aquaplane or similar device, which such person is intoxicated (BAC of .08 or higher).
All boats/personal watercraft pulling skiers within Little Bay must have an observer 13 years of age or older on board and facing rearward.
All traffic in the ski basin is one-way and must travel in a counterclockwise direction.
No motor vehicles or personal watercraft are allowed in restricted areas (shallow areas of Little Bay) marked by signs.
No sailing in the ski basin.
No airboats in the ski basin.
Persons may anchor or moor vessels within the boundaries of Little Bay for up to 24 hours if it does not prevent, impeded, obstruct or otherwise interfere with the navigation of a channel or with safe passage of any other vessels in the area.
